The delay of the Grand Prix of Japan may be helpful to Jorge Lorenzo while he recovers from a hand injury, allowing the
Fiat Yamaha racer more time to heal ahead of the second round in Spain.
Lorenzo is close to a full recovery and
this week he arrives back to the scene of the training incident that he incurred in February. The Spaniard is now focussing
on his next event of the 2010 campaign, at the Gran Premio bwin de España at Jerez.
“Thanks to the
sudden change in the date of Motegi I have had more time to train,” Lorenzo states. “This week I’ve been
to the gym, have worked with the physiotherapist, and on Tuesday and Thursday I had two days of motocross and dirt track.
This has helped me to see that I now have hardly any discomfort in my right hand when riding. I’m very confident because
I’ll arrive at Jerez at almost 100%.”
Second spot in Qatar for the season opener was a great result
for a racer still injured, Lorenzo is looking for a win at his ‘home’ track.
“Jerez is a magical
track for me, and I think it is for all the Spanish riders because it’s a circuit where the public really do feel very
close to you,” he explains. “It has always been quite good to me. I’ve had many pole positions and have
won there on two occasions in 250cc, so I hope to be able to fight for the victory in MotoGP.”
