Lorenzo prepares for Jerez The delay of the Grand Prix of Japan may be helpful to Jorge Lorenzo while he recovers from a hand injury, allowing the
Fiat Yamaha racer more time to heal ahead of the second round in Spain.
Lorenzo is close to a full recovery and
this week he arrives back to the scene of the training incident that he incurred in February. The Spaniard is now focussing
on his next event of the 2010 campaign, at the Gran Premio bwin de España at Jerez.
“Thanks
to the sudden change in the date of Motegi I have had more time to train,” Lorenzo states. “This week
I’ve been to the gym, have worked with the physiotherapist, and on Tuesday and Thursday I had two days of
motocross and dirt track. This has helped me to see that I now have hardly any discomfort in my right hand when
riding. I’m very confident because I’ll arrive at Jerez at almost 100%.”
Second spot
in Qatar for the season opener was a great result for a racer still injured, Lorenzo is looking for a win at his
‘home’ track.
“Jerez is a magical track for me, and I think it is for all the Spanish
riders because it’s a circuit where the public really do feel very close to you,” he explains.

Smith improvement The Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar was unable to issue the beginning of the 2010 year that Bradley Smith would have
liked with eighth spot, however the 2009 125cc World Championship runner up claimed a positive approach securing
points due to testing circumstances.
The Bancaja Aspar competitor had problems with his Aprilia's
set up over the weekend, facing struggles he and his squad worked hard to fix. Following a good beginning from third
row of the grid, Smith was able to end with points and attempting to build on that when the 125cc racers group again
for round two at Motegi on April 25th.
"It is disappointing to be riding at the limit and only have the chance
of eighth place. That's the situation we found ourselves in though this weekend,” says Smith. “The
team worked incredibly hard over the weekend to try and best prepare my bike for the race, despite some problems,
but it just wasn't competitive enough to be up there with the lead group.”
Eighth place is
not completely satisfying for a racer who challenged the title last year, however Smith was content to be able to
secure crucial points.
“We have to be content, because it was a tricky weekend and we've still
got eight points from the race,” he explains.
